George Toriello sent me the information he researched from military records and “Find a Grave” on
Edward Bernard Sheeran, whose name is on the Plaque at City Hall in Hackensack.

Edward B. Sheeran, was born September 30, 1907 in New York City.  The 1930 Census states he was living at 1153 Alicia Avenue Teaneck, New Jersey, but by 1931 the U.S. City Directories reveals he had moved to 44 Prospect Avenue Hackensack, New Jersey at the age of 24.  We do not know when he joined the Marine Corps Reserves, but Edward B. Sheeran- was a Private First class.  Edward B. Sheeran- at the age of at least 35 in 1942 was stationed in a Transient Center, Fleet Marine Force, in the Pacific.

An Excerpt from <Find a Grave bio> says, "while serving in Guam Edward B. Sheeran- was seriously injured unloading an airplane.  Hurricane winds blew him off a platform and he suffered severe head trauma".

Edward Bernard Sheeran-at the age of 39, died in the Veterans Hospital in the Bronx on
September 18,1946.  His wife, Ethal Mae Sheeran, while living at 19 East Ward Street Hackensack, New Jersey signed the headstone application on September 27, 1946.
